Violinist Alexandra Preucil has built a musical life shaped by curiosity, collaboration, and a desire to keep exploring. Her work moves fluidly between chamber music, orchestral performance, composition, and projects of her own creation.

During the 2026-2027 season, Alexandra appears at the Orcas Island (USA), Lotte Classic Revolution (Korea), Trondheim (Norway), Salzburg Mozartwoche (Austria), and Verbier (Switzerland) Festivals. She will also embark on a tour of Brahms Quintets with James Ehnes, Antoine Tamestit, Saò Soulez-Larivière, and Christian Poltéra in Vienna, Madrid, Bilbao, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Dortmund. Together with Antoine Tamestit, she founded the Starker Duo. Their recording of Bartók’s 44 Duos was released by harmonia mundi in July 2026, exploring the folk traditions at the heart of Bartók’s music. Their recital appearances take them to America, Europe, and Asia.

Alexandra is a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and collaborates with leading orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. Formerly Assistant Concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra, she has appeared in leadership roles with ensembles including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and Cleveland Ballet Orchestra.

Alexandra is also the creator of Harmony the Hare, an interactive musical world designed to introduce children to classical music. The project brings together Alexandra’s work as a performer, composer, and educator and reflects her longstanding commitment to making classical music meaningful and accessible to young audiences. She continues to teach masterclasses internationally, with a particular focus on chamber music and orchestral repertoire. Alexandra also serves as Vice President of the Starker Foundation, continuing the legacy of her grandfather, cellist János Starker, in supporting aspiring professional cellists.

Currently residing in Vienna, Austria, Alexandra was born in the USA into a musical family and began playing the violin at the age of three. She graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a bachelor’s degree in music performance and a minor in dance. She performs on a 1744 violin by Sanctus Serafin.
